It's not a big deal.
dailypeptalk:
Pep Talk: It’s fine. Nothing to worry about. No one willl die if things aren’t perfect. Just do what you can and then move on to the next big thing that you don’t have to worry about either. Today remind yourself: It’s not a big deal.
I attended a panel of women leaders and this reminds me of something one of them said… “You don’t always have to do ALL things...

Can't Go Back Now
Funny how when we were younger, we could spend half the time looking at our feet and the other half staring up at the stars. Sometimes we were afraid to dream. And sometimes all we could do was dream. And hope that somehow, tomorrow would be so much kinder than today.
My best friend has finally, finally, fallen in love. It floods my heart with immeasurable joy and relief to know this. After such...
Moments within Moments
It’s impossible to look in any direction and not hear that relentless mantra. The one that drills and screams into everyone’s subconscious. “Be this. Be that. Be there. Be noticed. Be important. Belong. Be gone.” Our fast-food culture masquerades as a buffet course, but we all know nothing is healthy anymore. Especially not with our tendency to self-destruct on the road to...

I feel like I’m coming alive again with every shot I take. :)
filtering shadows & dreams
I’m at this point in my life where I want to be able to say so much more yet do it using so much less than I’m used to. So here’s my stab in the dark:
I’m blessed with two wonderful, amazing kids who call me ‘uncle’ and ‘dad’, respectively. When we’re not together, sometimes I secretly fall into worry that they’ll forget about me down...

My dad once asked a question which I found extremely funny at the time. “Where IS the internet? Can you touch it? If it’s not a place, then how come people spend so much time going there and logging-in and burying themselves there for hours and weeks instead of actually living their lives?” It made me laugh at first. Until one day, I woke up and realized I had evolved into the...

another year, another reason
I just celebrated my Nth birthday and it was just another reason to be thankful for all the blessings that came my way last year…and all the positive things I’m sure are in store for me as the new year unfolds. It was of course double the dose of happiness because my parents were in town to celebrate with me. Come to think of it, I think this is the first birthday in ten years that I...

Sometimes you have to wonder just what it is that tells kids they can go to you for anything —- and know it’ll always be okay. Take young Isabel for instance. She doesn’t know anything about me except that one, I used to date her teacher, and two, I tend to head south of whatever the authority figures say.
About a week ago, she asked me for a miracle: she needed to know where to...

Thankful for all the teachers who recognized the abilities I did possess.
I only hope I do as well with my students. I admit sometimes I evaluate them based on what I believe/think they should be able to do, instead of what they are capable of doing.

life is a secret to share.
Much like me, he was always ready to turn around and walk off into the sunset anytime things got too hard to bear. Her deepest wound as a child was that she was abandoned, for a time, by the person she needed most. Somehow, they found each other. And much like a beautiful saying goes, their wounds were slowly turned to stars.

back on the grid, and all is silent now.
My wi-fi connection’s FINALLY working after weeks of being irredeemably on the fritz. There were so many things I wanted to capture through writing about them, so many things I wanted to share. But it’s like life rushed in to fill the empty spaces I was saving, and before I knew it, the current of recent events swept me away.
Despite all this, I remain still. And I remain grateful.

There’s an irreplaceable sense of peace that comes with knowing you’ve earned the scars required by some dreams.
-Life according to Lance
I completely agree. Actually, sometimes it’s the scars that make the dream larger than life. Battle scars aren’t pretty…but it proves you at least went to battle for something worth it. Scars, no matter how shallow or faint or deep they...

an excerpt from a conversation I had with a friend last night:
“You remember two weeks ago when we were hanging out and I asked you and Tim what movies you guys felt really captured your lives? I mean, Tim chose this movie and I went for that other one. But you, God, I was so jealous. You didn’t choose. And you didn’t have to. Me and other guys, we want to see ourselves in...

I was at a conference these past few days and after sitting through presentation after presentation, it was energizing to listen to two very dynamic speakers. One speaking about passion and the other demonstrating exactly that. Both bringing home the point that at the end of the day, whether you are in the industry, or teaching future industry leaders, it boils down to this: truly caring about...
